Yesterday and today students will be learning about Reconstruction.

ASPEN is up-to-date with the exception of the Civil War Soldier Projects and Letters which I'm working on grading right now.  Any grade with a zero can be turned in for half credit.  The Civil War Soldier Project will make up half of the quarter 4 grade.

By the end of class today you should have drafts of 2 letters complete if doing the standard project.  If you are doing the modified project 1 letter must be complete today.  


Please make sure you have shared your letters with me!

Project is due Monday, June 12...remember to work on the other parts at home (maps, illustrations, artifacts....) and bring them with you to class Monday to organize!

Steps for today's class:
1. Please open your letters and share them with me so I can give you feedback 
2. Check ASPEN it is up-to-date
3. By then end of class you should have 1.5 letters complete!!!

Directions:
1. Open your Soldier Project Notes Doc
2. Open What does your letter/journal entry need? and go over together as a class
3. Create your own doc to start your letter or journal entry. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE ALL THE REQUIRED INFO IN YOUR HEADER!!!
4. Take a few moments to think about how to turn your facts into a story. What characters could you create to show your information? What emotion and details can you add to make your reader feel like he/she was there?  Powerful writing is specific writing and the the strength is in word choice!


BY THE END OF CLASS YOU SHOULD HAVE 1/2 OF YOUR FIRST LETTER/JOURNAL ENTRY COMPLETE...IF NOT IT'S HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEKEND!!!
