Yesterday students shared their articles with the class about African Americans during the Civil War.  Today we discussed the Massachusetts 54th Regiment and watched a few video clips from Glory.

The Emancipation Proclamation

Here is this week's calendar:CALENDAR WEEK OF MAY 23rd PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE HW OVER THE LONG WEEKEND. But I'm assigning it Wednesday so you don't have to wait!

Today in class we partner read articles on the Emancipation Proclamation and discussed its significance. Emancipation Classwork Reading & Questions Tonight for HW students will be reading an article on African Americans during the Civil War and answering questions.

We are moving from our background research into creating projects on an abolitionist Abolition Research Project

Yesterday we discussed the path Richard Allen took to freedom and his influence as a black abolitionist.  Today students will learn about the Nat Turner Rebellion and the impact slave uprisings had on slave treatment. The video below helps guide this conversation.  For the rest of the class students will finish their Abolitionist Background Research and start their Abolitionist Project which is due May 9th.
