African Americans & The Civil War

CALENDAR WEEK OF APRIL 23rd

Today in class we learned about the Emancipation Proclamation.  We partner read this article: Readworks: The Emancipation Proclamation

For homework students will read 1 of 4 different articles about African Americans during the Civil War and and answer questions.  Tomorrow they will collaborate with peers who did the same homework and create a mini-presentation on the key info from the article.

Determined Soldiers HW Reading

Thursday and Friday this week we will be learning about the role of Native Americans during the Civil War.  We Are All Americans: Ely Parker at Appomattox HW DUE FRIDAY!

1. Open the following tab: https://www.history.com
2. Open the following Google Form: Antietam Google Form
3. Read the article and watch the video to answer the questions in the Google Form.

When you finish:

• practice Civil War Vocab using  Quizlet https://quizlet.com/_267n2t
• check ASPEN History Q4 is up to date (there are 2 ungraded assignments still)
• work on Ely Parker HW until everyone is done and then we will play Kahoot & Quizlet Live

Women of the Civil War

Calendar Week of April 9th
The beginning of this week will be devoted to learning about women who disguised themselves as men so they could fight in the Civil War.

Today we will read Cross Dressers of the Civil War and article from Upfront magazine and create a list of reasons why women enlisted to fight.

Tonight students have an extra credit assignment: "Brave as a Lion" Letter

Tomorrow students will watch "Secret Soldiers of the Civil War"

The class rotation will be different than usual so just remember if you have any missing work I need it by Friday when grades close.

Today we finished watching the Technology Video Clips from Friday and passed back corrected work.  Students received detailed grade reports. This will be their Q3 grade unless work is turned in by Friday April 6th when grades close.
