Monday students continued to watch clips from the HBO John Adams mini series and discussed the transition from petitioning for change to the revolution of independence.

Today and tomorrow students will work on editing, revising, and submitting their Building a Case Evidence Outline.  It must be submitted through Schoology before noon tomorrow!

Monday, November 19, 2018

Today students will continue working on their Building a Case.. Boston Massacre Evidence Outline. By the end of class today their outline should be complete and ready for editing.

Once the outline is complete you should share it with a friend who is also done to edit and double check.  Pay attention to fonts, type size, placement of quotation marks and punctuation. Also make sure the sentences use strong, specific vocabulary and work to prove the thesis statement (topic sentence)



Once you have completed the outline please do the following:
  1. Make sure your entire outline is the same font and size
  1. Make sure your entire outline is the same color and not bold, italics, or underlined
  1. Make sure you start each sentence with a capital letter
  1. make sure each proper noun (Name & Location) are capital
  1. Make sure each sentence ends in a period
  1. Make sure the quotes have starting and ending quotation marks.  The period should come before the end quotation mark
Remember that specific writing is powerful writing... so make sure every word is the strongest, most specific word choice possible!!!When you are done reviewing your own work please swap with a peer to review!

Today in class students began to create their outline using primary source evidence about the Boston Massacre.  This outline is due Tuesday, November 20th and will be submitted through northamptonschools.schoology.com  They will have another full period to work on it either Friday or Monday

Due to a technology issue the lesson planned for today  (based on the calendar) will be postponed until tomorrow.  At this point all students should have submitted their Primary Source Evidence Chart through Schoology. Tomorrow we will move to the next step-which will be to create an outline using the quotes as evidence in favor of one of the arguments.  This outline will be due 11/20.

Today in class we reviewed the impact of the French and Indian War on the colonies and discussed the taxation that angered colonists moved them towards declaring independence.  Students worked in small groups on an assigned act.  Groups will share what they researched on Monday in class.
